Recaredo x Gambas

Hey guys Molly here, last Thursday Lloyd and I were kindly invited to join Gambas for their first night of the upcoming winemakers series! The focus was on the incredible Recaredo winery, we were hosted by Laura, the export manager, she filled us in on the families history and the journey they are on as leaders of the ‘Corpinnat’ movement.

What is Corpinnat I hear you ask? We were in the same boat..

Corpinnat is a collective brand used for a sparkling wine made from the Penedes region in Catalonia Spain. The wine making process requires organic grapes which are hand harvested and aged for a minimum of 18 months, this whole process takes place within a strict area of Penedes which creates a wine which offers a distinct and higher quality to the standard of Cava.

Finally a truly well made & absolutely delicious Spanish Sparkling wine we can get behind!

The evening was a blast, we were treated to a 5 course menu with wines to pair with each dish, from still examples of the Xarel-lo to sparkling, it was great!

If you haven’t been to Gambas yet, next time you’re in Bristol pop by for authentic tapas with a focus on low intervention wine.

Miranius 2022

It has an aroma of white peach, green apples with some hints of Mediterranean herbs. There is a crisp and freshness to it with flavours of lemon vest sea salt and fennel with a creamy and refined texture. This was a personal favourite of mine!

VI-D-RE

Vinified in glass demijohns, this is super pure Xarel-lo, pithy lemon and bright acidity, the perfect contrast to the chilli cod it was paired with. Packed full of white fruit & tangerine which gets lifted by tropical fruits like sweet mango, lime and pineapple.. a must try!

Terres Brut

The entry wine, but dont be fooled this is a class apart from the usual run of the mill..  full of aromatic white flowers and dried fruit with a fabulous long finish, the bubbles are gentle and the wine disappeared fast..

Intense Rosat Brut

A long lasting sparkle, it’s an amazing  rose packed with strawberries & fresh basil for a herbal edge. Utterly memorable in my eyes for its fine bubbles which felt like velvet when being drank. very delicious!

Subtil Nature 2019

The icing on the cake, a Corpinnat to rival vintage champagne, rich and full with those golden velvety bubbles, this is elegant & powerful at the same time, a real treat!
