Wines for Easter Weekend!

May 05, 2026

With the threat of Spring in the air and the greatest Sunday lunch of the year on the horizon, it’s time to treat yourself to a truly delicious bottle of wine or 2..

Here are a few of our picks, all tried and tested over the recent weeks at HQ..

If your looking for a beautiful bottle of red wine to go with that Lamb or Beef roast then these are our picks!

Bonnigal-Bodet, Genesis 2024 - £28 per bottle

This Cót (Malbec) from the wonderful guys at Bonnigal-Bodet will change the way you think about Malbec, this is from the village of Amboise in the Loire, the wine is super elegant, expressive and purity are the best words for this, we cant get enough!

Monte Bernardi, Sa’etta 2020, Chianti Classico Riserva - £45 per bottle

If you read Jo’s email about these wines a few weeks back then you will recall it’s headline, Chianti’s you should be drinking’ & she was certainly correct, this will be the perfect match for some spring Lamb, Perfumed, juicy red fruits & blood orange with, minerality, acidity, and perfectly integrated tannins.

Chateau Dufort-Vivens, Les Plantes 2019, Margaux - £50 per bottle

Not dusty Bordeaux.. we recently discovered this wines from the highly regarded Dufort-Vivens and havent stopped ripping corks since!  Durfort-Vivens were the first estate in Margaux to go fully organic and is now fully biodynamic, too. Les Plantesis beautiful and great value, 20% of the wine ages in clay amphora to add layers of complexity outside of oak barrels and preserve fruit and freshness, this is a cracker.

Gentle Folk, Sangiovese, Adelaide Hills - £30 per bottle

Currently on by the glass because we cant stop drinking it, juicy, fun, unadulterated juice from down under, if you want purity of fruit & something that goes down faster than it should, this is the wine for you..

Lapierre Morgon 2024 -£40 per bottle

Do we need to say much about this, Lloyd might as well be hooked up to a drip full of it, juicy and fresh with a touch of magic, breezy & easy.

Giola Del Colle, Fatalone Primitivo Riserva 2022- £28 per bottle

This is a wine not for the feint of heart, big and plush with plenty of fruit and alcohol, it feels quite luxurious & hedonistic, will fill the room upon opening and be a great match for some slow cooked meats!

For the White & Rosé fans in the room, we have some beauties here for the fish courses!

Stonebird, Teku Teku Rosé 2014 - £25

When local winemaker Gavin popped by a few months back we were more than pleasantly surprised to hear about his journey as a winemaker in South Africa & how he has ended up making wine just outside of Usk, from sourced fruit along the England/Wales borders, the Rosé is absolutely knock out, plenty of delicious red fruits, a lovely texture and clean as a whistle!

Léon Bosch, Le Coq, Pinot Gris 2023 - £28 per bottle

The new vinatge of this Chester’s stable is tasting great! Biodynamic Alsace Pinot Gris that always delivers, Gorgeous aromatics and texture with balanced acidity to keep it light and playful on the palate, winner.

Finca Sandoval, Aurora 2023, Spain - £28 per bottle

Lloyd has fallen head over heels for this Albillo Real, small production, waxy and honeyed on the palate, the only thing He can liken it too would be maybe a Loire Chenin, but perhaps it shoul be adorned for just what it is?! you be the judge, a cracker!

Lukkas Van Loggerenberg, Trust Your Gut 2021 - £35 per bottle

One from the cellars, we recently pulled some of the 21’s out of storage and they are tasting beautiful, this is one of the best expressions of Stellenbosch Chenin’s you will taste, feels a relative bargain also!

Castera Jurancon Sec 2024 - £28 per bottle

It took someone coming in the other day saying how much they had enjoyed a bottle of wine in a restaurant, it turned out to be some Jurancon Sec… This wine is very much the perfect food wine, glorious fruit, apricots, peaches & citrus with a lovely undercurrant of bright acidity, love love love it!

Maximin Grunhaus, Pinot Blanc Reserve 2020 - £40

We recently moved on to the new vintage, which can be a worry some times but not here, another belter, rich and powerful wine, feels like it could be way more expensive, fine wine for sure. They are famous for the Riesling’s but this is our secret fav wine they make..

Have an amazing Easter weekend, we will be closed on Sunday/Monday but here to help out with all your wine needs in the run up!
