2023 Comando G Allocation Offer
May 05, 2026
We are over the moon to have received the beautiful 2023 vintages of one of the most collectable wines in the world. These are unicorn wines and we feel quite lucky & excited to get the whole range for the first time. Tiny allocations as you may expect, especially after we have taken what we want.. if you dont know these wines, here is some info on what is a truly inspiring project that has redefined Garnacha.
In the early days of their Comando G project, Daniel Gómez Jiménez-Landi and Fernando García made a yearly trip to Châteauneuf-du-Pape. They would sleep in a van in the fields beside Château Rayas, wandering the vineyards and reflecting on the wines produced there — regarded as some of the world’s greatest expressions of Grenache. By the time they were finally welcomed into the cellar, Comando G had already emerged as one of Spain’s most exciting new-wave wine projects, helping to spark a Garnacha revival and build a devoted, ever-growing following.
Comando G’s vineyards lie in the Gredos Mountains, to the west of Madrid. Here, old, largely abandoned bush vines grow among fig and olive trees at high altitude. Dramatic shifts between warm days and cool nights allow the grapes to ripen slowly, producing fruit that is both intense and beautifully balanced — an ideal setting for two winemakers inspired by Château Rayas. The vineyards are farmed biodynamically, and fermentations take place with wild yeasts in open-top casks. The wines are structured along Burgundian lines, beginning with ‘village’ bottlings and progressing to distinctive single-vineyard cuvées that express their individual sites.
Both powerful and remarkably delicate, Comando G’s Garnachas possess an elegance often compared to top Pinot Noir. In just a few short years, they have risen to the highest ranks of Spanish wine.
Vintage Reflections from Dani Landi
“2023 is a vintage with the character and energy of one who survives a great drought. Watered with blows of water and worry, but with a wonderful last month. The cold of September always makes good wines. It is a vintage where the juice flows deliciously, light and finely again. A vintage that exceeds expectations, full of emotion and grapes that seem to want to levitate even the shared stars’.
