This is Domaine du Pas de l'Escalette! New Vintages are here!
Sep 02, 2026
The new vintages are absolutely knockout, the wines of the currently release are exactly what I want for these wines, elegance & purity and a finesse that makes these the best wines I’ve tasted from the domain, and the region… some of the cases will be making there way home for sure!
If you don’t know about this brilliant domaine, here is the email I sent last year.
“In the heart of the Terrasses du Larzac, located in the heights of southern France, lies a timeless place, I once woke up at 5am in Montpellier to drive & go see the vineyards before flying back out of Toulouse. In my slight hungover state, I hadn’t remembered the sun doesn’t rise very early in January.. so I stood in the vineyard below for about an hour & half waiting for the sun to rise.. no bad thing I hear you say but it was freezing.. anyway!

Nestled in a landscape of rugged cliffs, the vineyard benefits from high elevation (1000 to 1700 feet) and a Mediterranean climate tempered by the cool nights. Here is a wild, natural setting that shapes wines with rare purity.
The Terrasses du Larzac, an appellation on the rise, is a unique terroir with breathtaking landscapes, a blend of Languedoc generosity and Larzac plateau freshness. Like a breath of fresh air in the warmth of southern France, the limestone soils and cool breeze create ideal conditions for growing local grape varieties (Grenache Noir, Syrah, Carignan, Cinsault and Mourvèdre) perfectly adapted to the region.
Vines are planted in small terraced plots in harmony with nature’s biodiversity. All certified and farmed organically and biodynamically, thereby allowing each vintage to reveal the vibrancy of its exceptional terroir.
Wine growing here is a far-cry from conventional large-scale farming. Domaine du Pas de l’Escalette is a small family estate, with an artisanal vision, where every gesture is imbued with respect and love for the place and for the wine.
These are fresh, elegant, fines wines, which reveal the singular characteristics of their plot. Each vintage is the fruit of this specific place. Here, we craft wines with a strong identity, wines which tell the story of the land that nourishes them, the story of Larzac.
Pas de l’Escalette is not just a vineyard; it is a human adventure, a quest of truth in every bottle.
We are proud to offer wines that are unlike any other, born from terroir and with unwavering commitment, wines that carry the family’s identity and history.
As you can imagine, these wines are available in tiny quantities!

Rose 2025
A blend of Grenache, Cinsault & Carignan grapes selected from the coolest sites. It is only made in small quantities, as much to refresh the family and friends as for the market. It is an absolutely delicious wine, along with Tempier, our fav rosé wine of the year.
£30 per bottle

L‘Escalette Blanc 2024
A new wine from the estate, Grenache Blanc and Gris, Carignan Blanc and Gris and Terret Bouchet. Extremley delicious and a great way into the style of wines from the estate, mineral, pure & very classy.
£38 per bottle

Mas Rousseau 2023
‘Carignan Blanc from a single parcel, where massale selection has been made of the oldest vines in the estate. The wine is fermented aged in both Concrete and French oak. It is detailed, sappy and complex wine, with great longevity. However as this is only made in small quantities, our allocation is just 12 bottles
£50 per bottle

Le Clapas Rouge 2023
Fill your boots with this. Syrah, Grenache and Carignan. Whole bunch Syrah and a light extraction of the other grapes. Fermented and aged in a mixture of concrete and large format French oak. Taste’s like epic Crozes Hermitage.
£38 per bottle

Le Pas De D. 2023
Delphines own interpretation of the vineyards that are over 50 years old. It is Carignan 50% Grenache 30% and Cinsault 20%. Vinification is in concrete cuves and the fruit is destemmed but not crushed. The ageing is in demi-muid for 12 months after blending. The wine is an incredible example of the region, both bright and full of energy, but also complex
£44 per bottle

Les Frieys 2023
A blend of Grenache Mouvedre and Carigan from the oldest vineyards harvested on the same day and co fermented. Ageing is in French oak for 12 months. The wine is quite extraordinary, and of course in short supply, with only 6 bottles available.
£70 per bottle

Ze Cinsault 2024
100% Cinsault from Limestone and clay soil. Ze Cinsault is now produced from one parcel of the oldest vines of Cinsault in the valley. The wine is ethereal, elegant and the pinnacle of what this grape can be. Stunning wine.
