Argentina, the land of Mountains, Maradona & Malbec..

But wait! Surely there’s more to one of the most Beautiful countries than Malbec, not that we are against Malbec.. but there has to be more right? It has the attributes that we love for epic wines, old vines altitude, perfect climate for low intervention wine making.

The problem for us is it’s literally the otherside of the planet, I’ve never been, never got to know the region, never set foot in the vineyards, shared a glass with the winemaker, swapped stories about what inspired them, all things I get to do with our growers in Europe, therefore Argentina hasn’t been a big part of what we do here at Chester’s, but we’d like to change that.

The man who can help us is the Infectious Laurie Webster, He has done all of the above, and continues to do so! Laurie has a fantastic list of brilliant growers he imports into the UK, and we are delighted to have him here for a night to talk all things Argentina! The main focus will be on small growers, doing things outside the normal box, working with varieties like Criolla, Charbono, Garnacha, Tannat, Bonarda.. the list goes on, don’t worry, we will pour some Malbec aswell..

We will taste through a pile of bloody lovely wines that we have chosen from Laurie’s list, wines that will inspire you to think beyond Malbec, whites & reds!

Lloyd will whip up some traditional Argentine Fare, a Choripan each & a bowl of Argentine Noquis to fill us up!
