We are very happy to have received a small parcel of phenomenal Rioja direct from the cellars today, including the outstanding 2010 vintage Granja Reserva! 2010 & 2016 are two of the finest vintages in recent history, this is a fantastic chance to secure some wine to enjoy now or to continue aging in the cellar..
Remelluri was founded by monks in the 14th Century, although there is evidence dating even farther back of wine being made on these premises. The vines changed hands a number of times over the years before being purchased by Jaime Rodriguez in 1967. In 2010, Jaime’s son and daughter, Telmo and Amaia Rodríguez, took the reins of the estate and set about making a series of changes to showcase the potential and diversity of Remelluri’s different terroirs, and ultimately reclaim Rioja’s viticultural history. They made some major changes to their approach and was cut down the production of their wines by one third, restricting it to wines produced from the estate’s own grapes.
As a nod to Rioja’s historic viticultural traditions, they have begun moving the Garnacha from trellis to bush-grown vines and will be working increasingly with mixed field plantings. Although Remelluri has always eschewed chemical treatments in the vineyard, 2010 marked the year of the estate’s full organic certification. Work in the winery plays a secondary role in Telmo’s philosophy, but great care is taken to make sure that each bottle reflects the terruño of the region: wines are fermented with native yeasts, each plot is vinified separately, new oak is used very scarcely and the wines are very lightly filtered and fined.
The flagship of the Remelluri estate, this is made mainly from Tempranillo, with smaller portions of Garnacha, Graciano, Viura and Malvasía. Aged for 17 months in barrel and released after a minimum of three years in the cellar.
The nose is very pronounced, displaying typical Rioja aromas of ripe strawberries, dark plums, cream, vanilla and hints of sweet liquorice. On the palate it is elegant, with well-integrated alcohol, fine-grained tannins and good concentration.#

A truly special wine from one of the great Rioja Vintages! A blend of Remelluri’s best fruit, it combines white and red varieties such as Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano, Moscatel, Viura and Malvasía. Following Spain’s tradition of holding onto the bottles before release, it spends a minimum of 6 years in the cellar.
Expressive nose with aromas of dark cherries, dark plums, liquorice, vanilla and cedar. It is full- bodied yet elegant on the palate, with a significant but round tannic structure, a wealth of concentration and a complex lingering finish.
